A Weekly Support Group for Moms of College Bound Teens
Join me for a weekly group that focuses on preparing Moms of teens heading to college to pivot gracefully into their next chapter. We spend so much time getting our kids ready to go to college, but we rarely acknowledge the impact this change has on us, the Mothers.
As a seasoned group facilitator and licensed clinical social worker, I strive to create a comfortable space for members to share stories, strategies, resources, and insights. Group members benefit from my expertise as an educator and therapist for over 25 years, as well as my experience of being a mother of three young adults, ages 24, 21, and 18.

Here is the Tone You Can Expect in the Group:
- This is a small, welcoming group with 8 members maximum
- I know how to balance the conversation and lend insights to all participants during a 75 minute, weekly meeting so that everyone feels included
- I emphasize confidentiality at the beginning of each group meeting
- I respect your time; I start and end every meeting on time
Here are the Take-Aways You Can Expect from Participating in the Group:
- An appreciation of the teenage brain based on recent
neuroscience - A better grasp of the role you will play as a parent of a college student
- Clarity on “Your Why” —what motivates you as you prepare for this next phase
- Practical strategies for assessing your habits while also establishing new goals
- Tools for establishing relentless self-care in this next chapter
- An understanding of when to assert yourself and when to yield as your teen prepares to leave home
- How to stay close as a family while also allowing your teen to move on
- Specific scripts for setting appropriate boundaries with your partner, friends, colleagues, and family members as you begin to focus more on yourself
- Camaraderie and support from like-minded women
