Endurance Parenting Tip: Sometimes the “right” thing to do for your kid is the most heart-wrenching thing for the parent. We sent our eldest back to California early yesterday morning after many, lengthy discussions. Her autonomy was calling—it had been for weeks. We also wanted to demonstrate our belief in her maturity and decision-making capacity as a 20 year old. JFK was eerily quiet and deserted. After doling out enormous amounts of unsolicited advice, triple-checking her supply of masks and gloves, and holding her for just a few moments longer, we let her go.
